Picking Up The Pace

Pops had a more peaceful night last night. The two previous nights he had struggled with coughing spells and I also believe with agitation due to urinary urgency. When the indwelling catheter was placed yesterday, that takes away that sense of having to "go" all the time. When Ethan put it in roughly 800 CC's came out of his bladder that he was holding. Flomax anyone? Last night I stayed with him all night. He did gurgle consistently but did not have the coughing battles that are so painful to watch. Maybe that is what the Atropine does, keeps it loose and moving, because he is still really gurgly overall.

When I say peaceful I do not mean improved. His oxygen saturation was 67-69% most of the night and his pulse was up between 120 to 150. His body is struggling, He is also now getting ibuprofen and acetaminophin every four hours on an alternating basis due to fever. This morning his temperature was 103.4. I am gonna take off work, again, because of how he is doing. It is hard for Mom to stay with him. She can't tolerate the gurgling and the struggle. On a better note, she feels a little better today. Good for her.

KA showed up and she is taking work off as well-at least the morning. We need to keep Mom company. Just checked Pops again and his oxygen saturation is at 55% and his pulse is 148. His body is fighting, but is shutting down. Still do not know if it will be today, we'll see.
