My bro Paul came in for a visit from August 6th - 9th. Was a great time to have him see Mom and Pops and also to get to spend some time with him. We went golfing twice and banged it around- nice because we are about even in our playing skills at the time: can hit great shots, and follow them up with crappy ones. (Like most golfers). P was here when last night we watched "The Bucket List" with the family... Good movie, but the best part is the last 10 minutes. I won't tell you more if you haven't seen it. It's good to see Paul and I look forward to him coming at Christmas time. As I have said before, one of the positives of this whole ordeal is the family that comes to this area to see Pops.
Speaking of Pops, he is trying to adjust to lowering his Dexamethasone with fair results. It is too soon to tell how it will become manageable and at what dose but he is eager to lessen his dosage. Ironic thing with all his problems is that his cancer is not his big problem at this time. It is all the secondary effects from radiation. His PSA is at 1.4 (good) and his cancer is in remission with the use of Casodex and LuPron. His problems are with foot drop from nerve damage, lymphedema in his legs and also with his neuralgia related to his Obturator Internus inflammation in his pelvis. These are mostly related to radiation effects and as a coworker of KA's has said: "He seems to have a lot of the negative effects of radiation that you can have." I would agree. We will continue to look at options to assist him with quality of life in terms of pain relief and also with regards to quality of living.
